Pagination

How to record the pagination if the article do not have page numbers but only an article number?

The issue number of the journal is recorded in the field "volume".

The article number is recorded in the left field of the "page range".

Example BioMed Central:
Journal Title: BMC Developmental Biology
Volume: 8
Page range (leftfield): 109 (this is the article number).

The reason is that it is how ZORA creates a correct citation.

What is recorded as a pagination if an articel is only published in its definite forme online and has neither page numbers nor an article number?

Record "online" on the left field of the "page range".

An article has been published online on a journal website, but not as a regular article; only as a mere online article outside the normal volumes and numbers. So it does not have any indication of volume, issue or page numbers. How to record this?

If the article has been published on the journal website and has the size of a common article, it should be included in ZORA. If possible, indicate what type of article it is, usually the journal gives some information about it.

For example: Discussion papers. These sometimes have numbers. In ZORA no volume and number are given, but in the left field of the page range you can write: Discussion Paper 6 (6 would be the number of the discussion paper). If such papers do not have numbers, then you should write: published online.

Other publications that appear online, but do not belong to a journal, can also be registered as Scientific publication in electronic form in ZORA.

How to record the pagination of a final published book chapter if the submitter/author does not know it and the information cannot be retrieved on the Internet either?

Instead of a lengthy inquiry it is possible to record "n/a" in the left field of the "page range".
