On behalf of swissuniversites, the Consortium of Swiss University Libraries negotiated national licenses with 4 publishers, Cambridge University Press, De Gruyter, Oxford University Press and Springer Nature. The project focuses on the acquisition of complete and frequently used journal archives, thus improving the nationwide availability of e-resources in Switzerland.
No affiliation with a Swiss university is required to read the contents of the national licenses. Authorized users are researchers, students and employees of universities, the ETH domain, cantonal libraries and hospitals as well as other non-commercial higher research and educational institutions. Private users with permanent residence in Switzerland have also had access since the end of 2016.
In addition to read access, the national licenses also regulate Green Open Access. After an embargo period, which lasts between 2 and 5 years depending on the publisher, universities can offer contributions from their researchers via their institutional repository. Accordingly, the OSS together with the ZI will organize the verification of these articles in ZORA.
Further information (title lists, embargo regulations, etc.) is published on the website of the consortium:https://consortium.ch/nationallizenzen/?lang=en
