The University Research Priority Program (URPP) Asia and Europe of Zurich University explores exchanges and encounters that have taken and continue to take place between Asia and Europe in the areas of culture, law, religion, and society. It brings together different methods and theories of systematic disciplines (Social and Cultural Anthropology, Human Geography, History, Political Science, Legal Studies, Religious Studies and Theology) with the regionally focused expertise of the respective area studes and philologies (Indology, Islamic Studies, Japanology, Sinology and East Asian History of Art). Within this comprehensive interdisciplinary research structure, the URPP Asia and Europe has chosen to focus on three thematically differentiated research fields; each of which is further subdivided into three or four topics and comprises several research groups.
