China, India, Japan, and the Islamic world as research regions, methodological specializations in cultural or social sciences, a focus on gender studies or non-European philosophy -- a master's degree in one of AOI's subjects always opens up new perspectives. But it is also often associated with uncertainties.
What is a good mix of specialization and breadth useful for a career in- or outside academia? How crucial are study periods spent abroad, how important is field research, archival work etc. for a successful MA project? How do I motivate and organize myself when writing my MA thesis? And of course: Where do I end up professionally, after graduating in a subject still perceived as exotic from the outside, more often than not?
Students, alumni and professors at AOI will discuss these and related
questions from a wide variety of perspectives during this panel.
Looking forward to your participation!
