Inhalt
Although the Japanese government and media have begun to emphasize the importance of accommodating neurodivergent students in education - for example, in cases of children with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder or dyslexia - Japanese workplaces remain relatively unwelcoming. Educators then need to consider how to educate young people in ways that develop their individual abilities while preparing them to live and work as adults in Japanese society. The lecture explores a variety of approaches to educating neurodivergent students in Japan and considers how these approaches attempt to balance a respect of diversity with the more rigid expectations of Japanese workplaces and society.
