Rajeev Bharghava, Director of the Center for Developing Societies in Delhi, believes that the idea of secularism in general has not travelled very well. For him it's a "Christian thing". But when one opens up the perspective, the idea of a traveling of that norm works: We have to speak of "multiple secularisms"; some parts of travel, others don't. India is a case in point where a norm travels back and forth. He speaks of a circulation of norms since Indian secularism has something to give back to Europe too.
