UB Sciences

Access is possible with UZH Card and ETH Card via main entrance (daily from 7:00 to 23:00).

Study Spaces

• There are around 200 study spaces, whereof 8 with PC/screen (see devices).
• UZH members can book some of these study spaces online viabooked-UB.
• Some study spaces can be used without prior reservation.
• Vacant study spaces can be used at any time, but reservations take priority.
• On the Floor plan (PDF, 401 KB) you can find an overview of the study spaces.

Long-term Study Spaces

• 10 individual long-term study spaces are available for a period of one to three months.
• The use is reserved for members of an Irchel institute from Master's level and above.
• Prerequisites include a valid reason (e.g Master’s thesis or PhD thesis) and a library account.
• To apply for a long-term study space, fill in the Application for Long-term Study Space (Carrel).

Borrow and Return

• Self-checkout station located in entrance area
• Shelf for collecting reserved items in entrance area
• Book returns box in entrance area
• Please note that items will not be cleared from the library account until the next working day (check due date).

Devices

• 2 PC workstations
• 6 study spaces with external screen (USB-C)
• Printer (UZH Print Plus instructions)

Lockers

• 50 lockers, floor H (free of charge, 28 days loan, reservation possible via swisscovery)
• 25 lockers, floor J (free of charge, 28 days loan, reservation possible via swisscovery)
• Locker keys can be borrowed on site during the staffed info desk hours.

The UB Sciences provides about 145'000 printed and electronic items in the fields of natural sciences, preclinical medicine, mathematics, informatics, geography and anthropology on the Irchel campus.

A variety of different study spaces are offered, as well as cozy reading corners.

The Liaison Librarians support researchers and students with subject-specific questions about literature research, reference management, data management or publishing.
